On September 21, on Skole City Day, a unique event will take place – the opening of the Museum of Tolerance of All Religions of the World. This is the first step of a large-scale initiative implemented by the Public Organization “Skoliv Region Development Office” in partnership with the art space “Ukrainian DNA”.
The museum is intended to become not only an exhibition of architectural copies of shrines, but also a center of cultural dialogue, where the past resonates with the present. In times of war, it has a special mission – to strengthen local identity and spiritually enrich the community.
What visitors will see
On the opening day, visitors will be presented with five recreated temples of world religions. This is a preview that will be the start of a wider exhibition in the future.
Among the exhibits are copies of world-famous shrines: the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in Kazakhstan, the Great Stupa of Sanchi in India, the Cathedral and Chapel of Charlemagne in Germany, the Assumption Cathedral of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra in Ukraine, and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.
Each of them conveys not only architectural beauty, but also values that have been formed over the centuries in different cultures.
A special feature of the event is the participation of young people: older teenagers are preparing to become guides and briefly present each temple. This will create a lively, interesting format for getting acquainted with world heritage.
History and idea
The work on the collection lasted for over 15 years and included archival research, scientific references, and artistic reproduction of architectural forms.
But the museum is not only about the world’s shrines. It is part of a larger initiative – the art space “Ukrainian DNA”, which is designed to reveal Ukrainian identity from ancient times to the present.
This story is built into a kind of “macro-narrative”:
- From nature: geological fossils and minerals that are hundreds of millions of years old.
- Through the origins of civilizations: Trypillya, the Yamna and Catacomb cultures.
- Statehood and culture: the era of Kyivan Rus, the Cossacks, the modern era.
- Freedom and dignity: the liberation movement of the 20th century and the legacy of the artist Nil Khasevych.
The space also features a large number of artifacts that complement this line and demonstrate that Ukraine is an integral part of the global cultural heritage.
Significance for the Skolivshchyna
Thanks to the support of the Public Organization “Skoliv Region Development Office”, the museum becomes an important step in the development of cultural tourism in the region. It will help to form a positive image of the Skoliv Region as a territory open to dialogue, new ideas and partnerships.
The exhibition of temples on the City Day is just the beginning. Ahead is the expansion of the exposition, educational activities, new cultural events.
